Foot (Podiatric) Surgery

Which Foot Conditions Can We Correct With Surgery?

When you visit our clinic, your surgeon will perform an examination to determine what treatment you require. We can correct the following conditions:

Bunions

A bunion will cause your big toe joint to become misaligned. In the early stages, this can be managed with padding, insoles, and appropriate footwear. If you have tried these methods but have not had any success, surgery may be the best option for your needs.

Arthritis of the Big Toe

Sufferers will frequently experience both pain and stiffness in their big toe joint. Your joint can be remodelled, or a part removed, to reduce the pain that you experience.

Hammer Toes

This common deformity results in your three middle toes becoming permanently bent due to arthritis, bunions, a foot injury, or poorly fitting shoes. Once the condition becomes severe, surgery is the only option. Your surgeon will remove a small piece of bone so that your toes can lie flat once again.

Pain on the Ball of the Foot and Morton’s Neuroma Surgery

If you have pain on the ball of the foot, you may be suffering from Morton’s neuroma, also known as Morton’s metatarsalgia, a condition where a nerve in the foot becomes irritated and extremely painful. Morton’s neuroma surgery is a procedure carried out to remove the part of the damaged nerve or to take the pressure off the nerve by creating the space surrounding it.

Ingrown Toenails

Severely ingrown toenails may require surgery. Your surgeon will partially or completely remove your toenail to correct the problem.

Toe Amputations

A toe amputation is a surgery to remove problematic toe(s). This operation is done as a day case at Hillsborough Private Clinic.

Ganglion and Cyst Surgery

A ganglion cyst is a fluid-filled noncancerous lump that usually develops in the wrist, hands, ankles, or feet. When a ganglion cyst presses on a nerve, it can be painful or/ and restrict movement. At Hillsborough Private Clinic, ganglion cyst removal is performed under local anaesthesia.

Cortisone Injections for Arthritis, Foot, and Heel Pain

Cortisone injections can be used effectively to treat arthritis or joint pain in the foot or ankle. Cortisone injections can help ease the pain and inflammation.
